This is a silly tape trick that you can try to make fur, scales, funny patterns, or anywhere you want to have a color appear from underneath.
Choose two colors; a top and bottom one. The bottom color is the one that will show through. It seems to work best if you use a lighter color on the bottom. But try everything! After all, YOU ARE THE ARTIST!
First, completely color the area in your bottom color. My bottom color was brown.
Next, color over it with another color. I used black over my brown.
Place the tape over the area. Don’t press to hard, or it might stick to your paper. With a pencil or pen point, press your design into the tape.
Now lift the tape. The lines you made with the pencil have lifted the top color off!
Cool! Try using different bottom colors, but only one top color. Hmm, what else can you think of?
